Down on Manion Creek,
I saw a minnow in the sun
Lying there and dying there -
Swimming days were done.

But it is just one fish,

And I'm sure there's more just like it,

All along the creek,
The water was green and brown;
There were dead fish on the sandbars,
And the flies swarmed around.

But it is just one creek,
And it is no big deal

Over there beyond those hills.
