Manion Creek
Song by Don Ray
Manion Creek by Don Ray
Down on Manion Creek,
I saw a minnow in the sun
Lying there and dying there -
Swimming days were done.
But it is just one fish,
And it is just a little one.
And I'm sure there's more just like it,
Where it came from.
All along the creek,
The water was green and brown;
There were dead fish on the sandbars,
And the flies swarmed around.
But it is just one creek,
And it is no big deal
'Cause there's another one just like it
Over there beyond those hills.
Down on Manion Creek,
I saw a minnow in the sun
Lying there and dying there -
Swimming days were done.
But it is just one fish,
And it is just one creek,
And it is just one river
Flowing down to just one sea.
And it is just one planet
Where the damage has been done;
And I'm sure there's more just like it
Somewhere out beyond the sun.
